Child Centered Decision Making:
Child Abuse and Neglect in Context

Featuring:   Annie G. Steinberg, M.D.

It is important to view child sexual abuse in the larger context of the child welfare system and public policy around abuse and neglect.  The seminar will consider issues regarding the very young child, caregiver capacity, impact of exposure to violence and the challenges of making meaningful change for a child in family court.  Dr. Steinberg will be introducing a model for child-centered decision making.  Systemic desensitization to the child’s experience and the lifelong impact of child abuse and neglect will be examined.  Dr. Steinberg will discuss how to work with forensic evaluators to ensure a better outcome for the child.  Cases will be presented in support of cross disciplinary collaboration to enhance child centered decision making.
