"

We strive to realize a full continuum of specialized services that prevents child sexual abuse and cares for children and families who have experienced this trauma."

-- Family Support Line

Letter from Family Support Line's Executive Director

Family Support Line was founded in 1984, when a group of social service professionals and private citizens concerned about the increasing incidence of child sexual abuse established a volunteer program to address the need. A mother who was seeking support for herself and her daughter sensitized these individuals to the service needs of families with a child who had been sexually abused.

The program operated until 1987, when the task of responding to the growing problem of child sexual abuse exceeded the time and financial resources of the volunteers. Those involved recognized that to effectively provide therapeutic services for these children and parents, a more stable base of operations was necessary. In 1988, this volunteer effort was reestablished and incorporated as Family Support Line of Delaware County, Inc.

Today, Family Support Line develops and provides specialized treatment groups for children, adolescents, non-offending parents and family members. Family Support Line's Sexual Abuse Prevention Education seminars provide a comprehensive approach to the prevention and early detection of child sexual abuse. And we now extend our expertise to other professionals through our consultation, training and conference services.
